Blogging as a Career - Blogging for Cash

Considering blogging as a career?

While some bloggers have been able to make 4-6 figure income cash from blogging, over 95% of those who start a blog fail at it. A career in blogging can pay well if you follow the tips in this article.

Can you really do Blogging as a Career?

What Blogging is About and Blogging For Cash Will Involve

A blog is a personal diary. A daily pulpit. A collaborative space. A political soapbox. A breaking-news outlet. A collection of links. Your own private thoughts.

Blogging for cash is not as easy as it is to say or type the word.

From the first part of Blogger's definition of a blog (above) in the meaning of blogging it's obvious that blogs were initially not designed to be used as a business or to make money.

Though some bloggers are using it effectively to make money from home, it's not always easy, even though many claim it is.

Blogs run on regular content, usually daily. So to keep blog visitors and welcome new ones regularly, you'll have to keep writing and publishing really quality content.

No real value content, no visitor, No visitor, no money.

So the first thing to ask yourself now that you're considering blogging as a career is : "How do I feel about writing and publishing an article everyday?"

Blogging also is very competitive. Every tom, dick and harry now have a blog set up with the hope of blogging for cash. Most of the good niches are already very crowded.

So for anyone to make good money from blogging these days, he/she has to bring someone unique to the table. Something that will stand them out from the crowd.

It's now more than just discussing theories about a topic, people now look for practical articles, the ones written from personal experiences.

So can you bring something unique to the table?

There's almost nothing you want to write about online that hasn't already been written on, so what I mean by unique is, what you would do to appear different in a niche and win readers.

Blogs are very easy and inexpensive to set up but the easiest way to doing something is not always the most profitable.

Questions You Must Ask Yourself Before Deciding on Career Blogging and Blogging for Cash

If you think blogging is for you then is full-time blogging necessary for now?

Blogging as a career is blogging full time as a business, can you afford to do that now?

Like I said before blogging is very competitive and so building the kind of visitors or traffic that can start making you decent money is very challenging and will take some time.

Before you can replace a monthly salary with blogging cash will take at least a year usually more. How will you sustain yourself through these periods?

My Success tips for Blogging as a Career

Don't Quit your Job Just yet

Quitting your job just to start blogging is never advisable.

Blogging for cash like I said before is not as easy as it sounds. It requires hard-work and patience.

And doing it with the sole purpose of making money from it could make you lack the kind of patience it requires.

You May Not Succeed When You Start a Blog Just to Make Money

Most of the people who do well in blogging today never set out to make money from it. They only started it as an hobby until they saw good response to it and started monetizing it. That does not mean that if you start a blog to make money you will not succeed in it.

If you start right and plan your blog as a business, then you most definitely will make money blogging

Blogging takes Time to Make Money

Blogging takes a considerable amount of time and patience to bring profit just like every other business.

So if you currently have a day job, start your blog part-time. Plan how you want to work around your time and keep to it.

When you have built a strong presence online and start making a sustainable amount of money from blogging then you can consider blogging as a career.

Success won't come Overnight

Things will fluctuate a lot at the beginning. One day you could get really high visitors to your blog the next day it could decrease drastically. Instead of losing faith, keep working and it will pick up again.

You are going to be competing with people who have been in the niche for some years putting lots of work to get ranked for it at search engines.

Don't expect to start today and overtake their success overnight.

The Keys to Success in Blogging

  • Passion
  • Knowledge
  • Dedication
  • Patience

You won't come online today and start making money tomorrow. You have to first build relationship with your blog readers and fellow bloggers, earn their trust before the money part can come in.

Provide real solution to peoples problems, build relationship with them then you can expect to make money.

So blogging could be very tiring, even worse when you're blogging as a career full time.

The 4 keys above are the only reason you won't quit even before really starting.

How to Blog for Cash

Blogging as a career will require you to provide valuable content in a unique voice on a regular basis.

Satisfy your readers and the search engines with your site's layout, presentation, navigation (make it easier for people to find important contents or topics) and your content in general.

And then you will find favor both in the eyes of the search engines and your readers.

To make money from your blog, you have to treat it like a business that it is.

Plan Ahead to Succeed

Schedule your time. Ask yourself: How many hours free time do I have?

Out of my free time, how many hours can I spare for blogging?

Think about all your daily activities when scheduling your time. So that when you start blogging, nothing interferes with the time you have set.

That way you can keep to your set time everyday. Which is very important.

It is better to set aside 2 hours everyday that you actually keep to, than to set aside 4 hours that you don't keep to.

If you have few hours to blog, try to be very focused on what is most important during those few hours.

When I just started online I easily got distracted with reading emails and commenting on blogs that at times I forgot to complete an article or work on getting links from other site to my site.

So these days I set my daily goals. I actually write out in a paper what I want to achieve on that day. And doing this has really been helpful.

Set up a proper working environment

If you have little kids who could interfere with your work, it is better you set up a working room.

And make the kids understand that once you're in that room and the door is closed it means you don't want to be disturbed. Kids can be very understanding you know :)

Ensure You Can Make Money from the Topic you want to Blog About

Some people have good amount of traffic to their blog but they can't convert that traffic to money because there are no good number ads and products for that niche to make it profitable.

It is no news that most of the money made blogging is made from adverts of different forms placed on the blog. Google adsense, buyads, selling ad space on blog e.t.c

If you are blogging as a career, first thing you want to do before even thinking of a name for your site is to come up with at least two topics you are passionate or knowledgeable about. Three is even better.

Then go to Google free keyword research tool add each word at a time to determine whether it has :

Good enough number of monthly searches that can make you money eventually.

Not too competitive.

High CPC (Cost Per Click).

Google adsense is one of the easiest ways to make money from a blog.

So find out the CPC for each related word (known as keyword) for your topic and make sure it's not less than $1. More is better.

Do more research to ensure there are more ways you can make money from your Blog topic apart from Google adsense.

Spy on your competitors.

Please see effective Keyword research part 1 and Part 2 . They both explain in detail the different research involved when choosing a profitable blog topic.

Keep in mind that you are blogging for cash not for fun and eventually you would be blogging as a career. So be doubly sure that the topic you want to blog about is very profitable.

Do not try to Start Everything at Once

If you pursue several things at once, you'll likely not succeed in any, especially as a beginner.

If you can make money with one blog, what stops you from setting up several at a time ? Jack of all, master of none!

Focus on one blog at a time until you master the art and succeed with it. Then you can easily duplicate it.

Write Regular Valuable Simple to understand Blog posts

There wouldn't be anything like blogging as a career if you can't provide content and more content.

No one expects you to be the best writer (except your ex-English teacher).

If you can speak some English then you can write them too. Be good enough in English to make people understand what you are discussing. And make sure your spellings are in place.

There are already thousands if not millions of people in your future niche. What will stand you out is your unique approach and the ability to draw your readers in.

Always have in mind that for you to be successful in blogging, you must make the search engines and your readers happy.

A good article is that, that comes from your passion, knowledge and experience on the topic, combined with a good research.

I have read the book Make Your Content Presell by Ken Evoy twice.

It teaches you how to write to persuade your readers and satisfy the search engines. And it is very invaluable for writing articles that sells. Fortunately it is free to download. Just use the link above.

Learn and Learn some More

Blogging as a career requires some money. Even when a blog is easy to set up and cost little to zero investment, excelling in the art will require you buy some books/tools. See all recommended resources and tools for successful blogging.

People who have succeeded in building successful blogs have invested a great deal of time to write helpful books and provided tools that can make your blogging experience a less hectic one.

So invest some money to buy some of these books and tools. Don't always settle for free stuffs. We get lucky to find really helpful books and tools for free. But they can't always be free.

Remember that this is a business that requires some investment to see it to success. The investment is a token when compared to what the offline business requires.

Keep Improving on your Blog

No one knows it all. Even those making a 4 - 6 figure income already from blogging continue to avail themselves to learning new things in other to keep improving their blogging skills and maintain the edge they have above their competitors.

So when you start your blog continue to improve on it.

It might be to use a cheap advertising or to change your theme to another one that will better present your goal for the site. Or maybe just to properly link your posts together.

Must have and maintain the Attributes of Problogging

And this is worth repeating. The attributes or what I referred to as the keys to successful blogging above are :

Passion, Knowledge, Dedication, and Patience.

Blogging as a career or blogging for money could be fun and very rewarding if you start right. What is worth doing, is worth doing well.

Talking about starting right, don't start a blog without first reading the Blogging at a Glance ebook.
