Link building is an essential task for all those who want to benefit from search traffic since it is one of the major factors used by the search engines to judge the quality of a site.
But building backlinks is a very tedious and time consuming task for webmasters.
Aside that it is boring, many people just don't have the time to put into backlink building
So knowing this many people have started businesses offering to sell backlinks to webmasters. Some of these backlinks are very cheap, you can even buy a backlink for few cents.
If that is the case, some wonder why the need to put so much time and effort into building links when they can just buy some cheap backlinks and be okay.
But will you or your site really be okay?
Cheap Means Cheap
I know that at times we get lucky to pay cheap price for quality products but in this case I can assure you that "cheap" is used in the literal sense.
You pay cheap, you get really cheap backlinks.
Most of the backlinks if not all will be useless to you, since a good number of them come from very low quality forums that give you no real link juice. And they could be there today and gone the next day.
Also depending on where these links come from they can really hurt your site. Imagine getting backlinks from spammy sites.
Granted there are some cases where after buying some cheap backlinks the persons experienced some increase in search ranking. But how long does it last?
It could work for the short term. But it doesn't usually go the long term, especially now that Google is making big changes to its algorithm and reducing ranking for low quality sites.
The Logic Behind More Quality Backlinks for Higher Keyword Search Ranking
Google wants to provide quality content to users. They do everything they can to make sure that when somebody does a search on Google the results are quality.
Google has a algorithm that ranks webpages with more backlinks higher then a website with less backlinks (though other factors are also considered).
It does this because a backlink means that somebody finds your website interesting enough to link to it.
If you buy a backlink, then that goes against what Google is trying to do. And you can only fool Google for a short time.
When Google finds out that you are buying backlinks or that your backlinks are coming from sources that are not credible then they could ensure that you do not show up at all in search results. Money wasted. Website worthless.
Better Alternatives to Buying Cheap Backlinks
If the time to build links is the problem then my best recommendation will be that you don't buy backlinks instead just create a site that people want to link to.
Though completely relying on people to willingly build backlinks for you may take some time but it will happen eventually if your content are really helpful.
Moreover with Google now emphasizing on high quality content, writing great content is ever more so important.
If you can't wait on that, then find quality sites that render quality link building program.
Usually you pay someone to take the time and build high quality backlinks for you, though this is an expensive way to build backlinks but you usually see the value quick in the search ranking for your site.
You can also use link swapping to build some quality backlinks yourself.
If time is not a problem then please invest some time to generate backlinks yourself.
