Free Blogger Template - The Best for Easy Useful Hacks

I consider this free blogger template to be the best because it can be easily hacked, which is necessary to make the Google blogger blog search engine friendly and give it a professional look.

In this article you will learn about the blogger template I consider the best and how to upload a new Google blogger template.

The Best of Free Blogger Templates?

I have been experimenting with the Google blogger blog and templates recently because since I didn't want to leave the blogspot blog fans out, I had to learn the basics and more about how to use blogger effectively.

So as to provide only complete none misleading information.

I actually created a Google blog for the step by step demonstration of how to build a professional blog with blogger as you will find in the article on Google blogger blog .

There are lots of free blogger templates and among it is the default free blogger template called Minima.

From my experience experimenting I think it is the best of blogger free templates to use or start with because it is easier with customization than the other blogger templates available.

During the demonstration of how to set up Google blogger blog, I used a template different from the default and though I didn't have much problem.

But when I went around to see what others were saying about their Google blogger templates, quite a number of people had problem using a particular blogger trick to customize their blog as a result of a missing code in the template or the code written differently.

And with a blogger blog expect to do lots of manual customization.

So the advice is keep it simple. Use the default free blogger template (Minima) and then customize it to your taste.

After setting up the demonstration blog with one of the other free templates available, It occurred to me to set up a test blog using the default template just to see how it looks.

And I must say I was impressed with the look.

Unlike the template I downloaded that had lots of borders and I had to remove them one after the other, the default free blogger template I was surprised to see had no obvious borders.

Below is the look of the test blog I created with the blogger default template.

You see how clean it is?

You can even use it as it is. Except of course dressing it up to look even more professional .

I understand though that at times there might just be a certain look that you are looking for in blogger templates that customization might not achieve.

If that is the case, then do a Google search with your topic plus blogger templates.

When I searched for the template I used for the demonstration blog, by the way you can view it at http://relationship-issues-and-answers.blogspot.com, I just typed 'relationship and love blogger templates' into Google search.

And without much search I got something very close to what I wanted.

I think this is better than just searching for general blogger templates. If you add your topic to it, then the search will display templates that were designed for such topics. That saves you lot of time.

Advice on Free Blogger template and Choice of Templates

The type of template you choose should largely be determined by the purpose of the site.

While the template I used for the demonstration blog is wonderful for some topics (as you will see below), it wouldn't be good for others.

For a blog where you intend to provide education through your content on a subject, you should seriously consider a white background like the one the default free blogger template offers.

So your readers wouldn't have problem reading through your blog.

For my topic, this wouldn't be the best.

But it wouldn't be horrible either because if I should take the blog seriously (doubt I will), I would be discussing heart matters and I feel the look is inviting. I wanted something related to the theme and colorful.

Now I must say that before you start playing with your blog's template, make sure you download the version already there, so that if you mess things up you can easily upload back what you had there.

How to Upload a new Free or Customized Blogger Template

For the above template, I just had to copy and paste the codes in the place of the one there before. Some others might require you to download the template.

In which case you'll go to your Dashboard, Click on "Design" (formally known as Layout), then "Edit HTML". Click on the space provided for "Upload a template", select the template from your computer and click upload.

Please don't forget to first Download full template in the event you mess things up.

Note that when you upload a new template you may lose some widgets/gadgets that was in the template you had there before if you do not save them.

When I pasted the new codes for my template, I was given an option of either deleting the widgets the new template did not support or to keep it, I simply choose 'keep It'. So do the same.

Keep in mind though that no matter the free blogger template you decide to use (whether default or uploaded), you still will have to do some customization and hacks to get the best out of it.
