Wikipedia's thoughts about the meaning of blogging, Blogs and weblogs.
A blog (a portmanteau of the term "web log") is a type of website or part of a website.
Blogs are usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video.
Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.
answers.com gave detailed information on the meaning of blogging and blog.
(WeBLOG) A Web site that contains dated text entries in reverse chronological order about a topic (most recent entry first). Blogs serve many purposes from personal journals to online newsletters to "ranting and raving."
Written by one person or a group of contributors, entries contain commentary, observations and opinions and may include images, audio, video, links to other sites and even a search facility for finding earlier entries.
The blog is often a passionate expression of one individual's thoughts, and blogs are expected to be totally truthful. Although increasingly included, ads have traditionally not been on blogs.
Informality and off-the-cuff opinion are what set blogs apart from Web sites, e-zines and other electronic publishing formats.

To understand weblogs more and how they work you have to visit, study and read some of them. Here is one of my blogs, copingwithdepressioncenter.com
Everything you see on that blog were so easy to put there that a third grade can do it.
I type what I wanted to publish there first on my computer, do my editing and just copy and paste it to the 'Add new' page on the blog dashboard.
All the links are added with a simple html code that you will learn about soon.
With the help of an Inter-page linking plugin called KB linker, I don't do any html when linking to other pages on the site.
Once the plugin is activated which is as simple as downloading, uploading and clicking activate, when you write posts it automatically link to related pages as long as the terms you'll want to use in the linking and their related URL have been saved to the plugin.
Don't worry about all that yet, everything will be made available to you here step by step.
All I want you to do now is see how a blog looks like and how it is arranged.
